After receiving her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Psychology, Ellen worked for over 5 years as a case manager and transition coordinator for adults with developmental disabilities, then as an IRIS Consultant. In 2015, she piloted a program with the Rape Crisis Center to provide education to young adults with developmental disabilities around healthy relationships. Abstract:

Often, people with disabilities lack education around safe and healthy dating behaviors. This can become a problem in the workplace if a student is asking co-workers out or exhibiting inappropriate sexual behavior at work. It is also important for people with disabilities to understand when they are the victims of sexual harassment at work and how to handle these situations. This presentation will discuss the issue of understanding sexual assault against people with disabilities, workplace sexual harassment when it comes to students with disabilities, and how to educate your students around these issues. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of how to create a safe workplace for their students, as well as the co-workers.
